Free Crime Victims' Rights Forum for Law Students:
As part of the OVC-funded RISE Project, Executive Director, Bridgette Stumpf, Kristin Eliason, Director of Legal & Strategic Advocacy, and Matt Ornstein, Director of Litigation & Enforcement will discuss the history and importance of current Crime Victims' Rights laws. They will share real-life examples of how NVRDC has assisted victims in asserting these rights throughout the criminal legal process. Victims’ rights are in place to allow victims of crime to safely and fully engage the court process. They are an integral part of serving justice within our communities. Crime victims' rights have made the news in cases like Jeffery Epstein's, and crime victims' rights enforcement efforts and resources are becoming more and more common throughout the country.
NVRDC has been providing CVR representation to victims of crime in DC since 2012. We are excited to share more about the importance of crime victims' rights with the next generation of lawyers- prosecutors, defense attorneys, and hopefully, some future crime victims' rights attorneys! The forum will be hosted three times this fall to accommodate different student schedules. There is no cost to attend. Pre-registration is required.
