Join NVRDC in learning about opportunities to provide pro bono assistance for students under Title IX and the Clery Act. Participants will receive an overview of the process of representing DC university and college student-survivors of sexual harassment, including survivors of intimate partner and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, who are seeking accommodations related to their victimization and/or representation campus Title IX-related grievance procedures. This training will provide attendees with an understanding of the crucial role attorneys play in helping campus survivors obtain accommodations and achieve justice. NVRDC staff will discuss the history of and recent changes to Title IX, the history and application of the Clery Act, and the current and future challenges faced by student-survivors as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees will learn about opportunities for engaging in pro bono Title IX/Clery work with NVRDC, including co-counseling cases with NVRDC attorneys.

This training will cover:
• An overview of the process of representing student-survivors;
• The history and recent changes to Title IX;
• The history and application of the Clery Act; and
• The current and future challenges faced by student-survivors.
Participants: This training is primarily designed for attorneys interested in (or already committed to) DC pro bono opportunities, but other colleagues are welcome to attend, space permitting! There is no requirement that participants commit to a pro bono matter in order to attend. This event is offered free of charge.
