NVRDC needs you to take action to support survivors of crime!

COvid-19 Campaign

Due to the rapidly growing COVID-19 pandemic, survivors of crime are experiencing compounded pressure.

Now, with COVID-19, many of our clients have been laid off from jobs due to closures at their workplaces.

Yet, we anticipate physical distancing to exacerbate conditions for individuals experiencing domestic violence and to exacerbate barriers that many vulnerable populations already face.

In addition, NVRDC has made the decision to pay our advocates, who are essential employees responding to MedStar Washington Hospital Center to support sexual assault survivors accessing a forensic medical exam, hazard pay--despite this cost not being fully covered by grant funds. This means we have to raise every dollar to ensure that our staff who are showing up on the front-lines to support survivors are fairly compensated for their work during this pandemic. But we are doing this still, because we value our staff deeply and want to authentically model our value of sustainable passion. This, combined with the postponement of our April fundraiser prompted us to create the COVID-19 Campaign with the goal of raising $8,000 to meet the increased need we are seeing from clients and compensate our staff for the additional risk they are taking on.
